A: Participants must submit their Research Paper in both Microsoft Word and PDF versions via email to bvia@icapital.biz with the title “2020 BVIA_Preliminary Stage Research Paper_[TEAM NAME]”. Kindly refer to the 2020 Budding Value Investor Award Rules and Regulations for detailed information.

Q2. Can my teammates be students from different universities?

A: Yes, a team can consist of undergraduate or diploma students pursuing different majors & years of study from different universities. Kindly refer to the 2020 Budding Value Investor Award Rules and Regulations for detailed information.

Q3. Will everyone in my team be given return tickets if we are shortlisted for the final stage?

A: Capital Dynamics will bear the lowest-cost return travel tickets for Finalists from their departure city to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The travel and lodging arrangements will be notified to the Finalists before the Final Stage. Finalists may make alternative travel and lodging arrangements at their own expense.

Q4. Does Capital Dynamics invest in global stock markets? How can I access the list of countries that Capital Dynamics invests in?

A: Yes, i Capital Global Fund (ICGF) is global fund investing in 43 stock markets globally. Kindly refer to http://funds.icapital.biz/ for detailed information.

Q5. Are we able to choose any stock that we prefer? Or is there a preselected list of stocks that we need to choose from?

A: Yes, participants are free to choose any stock from 43 stock markets that Capital Dynamics invests in globally. There is no preselected list of stocks.

Q6. Is there any specific time period of the stock’s financial years that we need to cover in the research?

A: Participants must include all three financial statements (income statements, balance sheet and cash flow statement) over 10 years or since inception, whichever is longer, in Part 2 of their Research Paper.

Q7. It is mentioned that teams must comprise of up to 3 members. Does that mean teams of 2 are also eligible to participate in this competition?

A: Yes, teams can consist of a maximum of 3 members (individual or groups of two to three).

Q8. I was hoping to take part in this competition with some friends, but have not yet finalised my team members. Can I change my team members after registering?

A: Yes, you can. Please note that amendments to the team members can only be done before the Research Paper submission deadline, 31st May 2020, 11.59 PM Malaysia time (GMT+8). Any amendment after the submission date will not be taken into account. If you want to change your team members before the submission deadline, kindly email the relevant changes to bvia@icapital.biz.

Q9. Who are the judges of the Preliminary Stage and the Final Stage?

A: The Preliminary Stage Research Paper will be assessed by internal judges from Capital Dynamics, while the Final Stage presentation will be judged by a panel of external judges.

A: Yes, 2020 Budding Value Investor Award is a global investment research competition organised for undergraduate and diploma students.

A: Yes, you are still considered an undergraduate student. An undergraduate student is defined as a university student who has not commenced any postgraduate programme, and must be presently pursuing an undergraduate degree on a part-time or full-time basis. Q14. If I don’t register in time, can I still submit my research paper?

A: No, it is compulsory for you to complete the registration on https://bvia.icapital.biz/ before submitting your Research Paper on 31st May 2020, 1.00 PM Malaysia time (GMT+8). Capital Dynamics will disqualify any team that is not registered by this deadline.

Q15. What is the format of the Final Stage presentation?

A: The brief format is available on the 2020 Budding Value Investor Award Rules and Regulations. Further guidelines will be communicated to the Finalists.

Q16. Do I need to pay an entrance fee for the competition?

A: No, the 2020 Budding Value Investor Award is a free competition for all undergraduate and diploma students.

Q17. Is there a limit to how many teams a university can send to participate in this competition?

A: No, there is no limit on how many teams a university can send to take part in this competition.

Q18. Can I make amendments to my flight ticket to Malaysia?

A: Capital Dynamics will bear the lowest-cost return travel tickets for Finalists from their departure city to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and one night’s accommodation. Finalists may extend their stay, choose different layovers, etc., at their own expenses.

Q19. I have finished my studies but have yet to graduate. Can I still participate?

A: Yes, you are only required to be an existing undergraduate or diploma student at the time of registration.

Q20. Is it necessary for participants to be students of Business or Finance backgrounds?

A: No, all undergraduate and diploma students from ANY major are eligible to participate in the 2020 Budding Value Investor Award.

Q21. If my team is shortlisted for the Final Stage but one of my team members is unable to attend the presentation, will my team be disqualified?
